Value Chain

ICT-based services have peaked as more farmers realize its value in relation to quality of services; the InnovAfrica project works with ICT based data management.

Value chains encompass the flow of products, knowledge and information, finance, payments, and the social capital needed to organize producers and communities.

To be successful and fully reap the benefits of SAI, small-scale farmers need to link with various stakeholders along the value chain - from seed to market.

To increase the quality of inputs and explore new market opportunities, InnovAfrica partners have developed Multi Actor Platforms through which small-scale producers connect to and work with downstream value chain stakeholders.

Another imperative decision that farmers have to make is the choice of seeds they buy. This is often dependant on the availability of seeds. The InnovAfrica project has additionally examined the seed delivery system.
